Ray White Commercial duo smash $16M in nine auctions

THE auction scene is buoyant on the Glitter Strip, with Ray White Commercial Gold Coast property specialists Jared Johnson (above right) and Lachlan Marshall (above left) leading the charge, selling $16.7M worth of assets across nine auctions in just four months.

The duo has achieved a 100 per cent success rate under the hammer in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and have visions of continuing that positive momentum across the Gold Coast.

Mr Johnson said despite the negative perception of auction struggles across the country, he had found selling under the hammer was particularly successful on the Glitter Strip.

“There’s a real buzz around commercial auctions on the coast and the interest we’ve seen for all nine assets sold since November has been phenomenal,” he said.

“Across the nine auctions we’ve had 69 registered bidders, and when you’re averaging more than seven every time the hammer goes down, you know something is working.

“Following the success of the Commonwealth Games, The Gold Coast is where everyone wants their commercial asset to be, and it’s attracting investors and owner-occupiers alike.

“The future for the commercial market, especially when it comes to auctions, is looking very bright for the Glitter Strip.”

Mr Marshall said the duo looked beyond traditional means of reaching buyers, with their Facebook page followed by more than 1,300 people and Instagram almost touching 10,000.

“In the modern market you need to find a way to reach out to as many perspective buyers as possible, and in addition to the traditional face-to-face, communication via social media is becoming more and more prominent,” he said.

“It’s a fantastic tool for us because it enables us to respond to enquiries and queries day and night, ensuring a strong line of communication and worldwide reach during our campaigns.

“The perfect example of this is the sale of 42 Siganto Drive, where the initial enquiry actually came through our Instagram page @goldcoastpropertyreport.

“From our initial post, it set off a chain of events that culminated in the asset selling for $2.65M at 11pm, the night before auction.”
